Donna Cook: A Life Woven with Numbers and Threads
Born in rural Illinois, Donna grew up among “good and decent, God-loving people,” a background that instilled in her a deep faith and strong work ethic. In 1975, she embarked on a cross-country journey that would define her life, piloting a 1974 Camaro with a U-Haul in tow, heading west to California.
For decades, Donna has been a fixture in corporate accounting departments, specializing in payroll for large companies. Her expertise spans every aspect of the field, from bookkeeping to complex financial systems. Colleagues describe her as thorough and unflappable, qualities as essential in balancing books as they are in creating delicate needle work.
An accomplished enthusiast in embroidery, knitting and crocheting, she approaches these hobbies with the same precision she brings to spreadsheets.
Donna’s life is anchored by her faith. She is a devoted student of the Bible, finding both comfort and guidance in its pages. Her love of fellowship extends beyond the church, creating a warm community of friends and fellow crafters.
As she reflects on her journey from the Illinois countryside to the California coast, Donna remains grateful for the path she’s traveled. Her story is one of quiet dedication, a life rich in both professional accomplishment and personal passion, all underpinned by an unwavering faith.
Donna currently serves as Treasurer of the San Diego Christian Chamber of Commerce
